Choosing Family Day Care
A warm, personal approach to early learning and care Contact usBecome an educatorWhy family day care is a great option
Family day care brings together the best of home and structured early childhood education.
With small groups, consistent relationships, and flexible hours, it’s a great choice for families wanting a more personalised experience. Reasons why family day care works for so many children include:
- Small groups mean more one-on-one attention
- Strong, secure relationships with one educator
- A calm, home-like environment
- Play-based learning guided by the Early Years Learning Framework
- Personalised routines that follow your child’s needs
- Outdoor play and natural exploration
Children thrive when they feel safe, connected, and understood — and that’s exactly what family day care provides.

How to choose a family day care
Choosing the right family day care educator is all about finding someone who feels like the right fit for your child and your family’s routine.
Look for an educator who communicates openly, creates a warm and welcoming environment, and offers activities that spark your child’s curiosity and development. It’s also important to consider practical things like location, availability, and how their approach to behaviour, routines, and learning aligns with your values. Trust your instincts—when you find the right educator, you’ll feel confident knowing your child is safe, supported, and thriving.
We’re here to help match you with a family day care educator who suits your location, needs, and your child’s personality. You can submit an enquiry through the contact form below or call us on 1300 336 345.
Frequently asked questions
Where are educators located?
We have family day care educators throughout the Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba region, Dalby, Chinchilla, Roma, Goondiwindi and surrounds. Plus we have new educators coming on board all the time. Contact us to find out who is in your area.
How can I find an educator?
Contact us via the contact form below or call 1300 336 345. We’ll help connect you with an educator in your area.
How are fees set?
Each educator operates as an independent business and sets their own fees (within service parameters). You’ll discuss the cost of care directly with your chosen educator.
How does CCS work?
The Child Care Subsidy helps reduce your out-of-pocket fees. It’s paid directly to our service. Families must apply through Services Australia.
What should I pack each day?
A change of clothes, nappies (if needed), water bottle, sunhat, and any comfort items your child needs. Include food if your educator doesn’t provide it.
Is food supplied by the educator or brought from home?
It varies. Some educators provide meals; others prefer families to bring food from home. This will be discussed with your educator.
How is learning and wellbeing monitored?
Educators follow the Early Years Learning Framework and use observations, assessments, and regular communication to support each child’s development. Our coordination unit provides extra support whenever needed.
What happens if my educator is unavailable?
When your educator is planning to take holidays and care is still required, you can either make your own arrangements with friends or family, or can contact us to find alternative care within our network of registered educators.
Can I start my own family day care?
Yes, you can start your own family day care and care for your children at the same time. Many educators choose this pathway because it allows them to work from home, earn an income, and be present with their own children. To get started, you’ll need to meet the required qualifications, have a suitable home environment, and be approved by a family day care service like ours. We’ll guide you through the setup process, provide training and support, and help you meet all regulatory requirements so you can run a safe, high-quality early learning environment for all children in your care.
