Bringing play your way!

The Kath Dickson Toy Bus is a new mobile toy library bringing play-based learning directly to families in South West Queensland.

Packed with quality toys, games and puzzles for children under five, the Toy Bus travels to regional and remote communities, making it easier for families to access the benefits of early learning through play.

The Kath Dickson Toy Bus is designed to support:

  • Families with children aged 0–5 years
  • Grandparents caring for young children
  • Playgroup coordinators and community groups
  • Family Day Care educators and centre-based educators

Membership is just $80 for 12 months, giving you the freedom to borrow up to 5 items for four weeks at a time (or until the next Toy Bus visit to your town).

How long can I borrow the toys for?

Borrowed toys are typically returned at the Toy Bus’s next visit to your area. We’ll let you know the schedule when you join.

Where does the Toy Bus visit?

In 2025, the Toy Bus will visit Roma, Mitchell, Charleville, Cunnamulla, and Quilpie. We’re committed to these locations quarterly from July 2025, but we may consider additional communities in the future.

What happens if a toy gets lost or broken?

While we expect that the toys are returned in the same cleanliness state as they were borrowed, we understand that accidents happen. There’s no charge for lost or broken toys. We just ask that you let us know so we can keep our collection in great condition for everyone.

Is there someone on board who can help me choose suitable toys?

Definitely. Our friendly Toy Bus team, led by Toy Library Coordinator Trish Mullins, is there to guide you and suggest toys based on your child’s age, interests and developmental stage.

Is there support for children with additional needs?

Yes, we aim to be inclusive and cater to all families. If your child has specific needs, just chat to our team—we’ll do our best to recommend suitable resources.
